Individual Staff Backgrounds
Our Medical Providers
Every physician is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice, having completed three years of internship and residency in family medicine, followed by a series of examinations.
Every seven years, they are required to sit for exams again to retain certification. They participate in continuing education programs, subscribe to professional journals, and serve on care review panels at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, where they are members of the medical staff.
Their training and education have prepared them to handle a wide range of medical problems. They treat patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Moreover, by caring for every member of your family, they are in a unique position to understand emotional and social factors that may have an impact on your medical problems.
We have enriched our patient care services by adding nurse practitioners to our clinical staff. They work closely with our doctors and often see our patients first as an effective way of triage.
Patients may request an appointment with a nurse practitioner for diagnosis, medication, and treatment of most minor, acute illnesses, routine follow-up on chronic health problems, and physical problems. For patients with a new diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, or other chronic illnesses, our nurse practitioners play a key role in patient education.
Patient care at Family Medicine is provided by a team of health care professionals consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses. The majority of our staff members are long-term area residents who have raised their families here, and who are committed to the community. All are licensed by New York State and play important roles in your care.
